YOUNG LEARNER PROGRAM

Young Learner Program

The Young Learner Program is designed specifically for young learners from 7 to 10 years of age. Students who study in this program will enhance their knowledge through the most updated course books, Story Central 1-6 and Grammar Goals 1-6. In this way, learners develop the confidence and competence to communicate effectively in English, as well as understanding and processing information from a wide range of sources. The course combines the most effective literacy techniques used with native English speakers with proven techniques for teaching English as a foreign language to young learners.

The learners will spend 3 years (12 terms) for the completion of the program. The total learning hours for each term is 137.5 (2.5 hours per day for 55 days).

Story Central, a beautiful six-level primary course, is where imagination, creativity, and learning come alive. Critical thinking, critical literacy and storytelling are at the hub of Story Central. With a rich literacy strand, students are exposed to a variety of genres through the course Reader. Students are taught to critically examine stories, working together to find meaning. Every chapter (unit) covers key language and includes a feature story, a grammar corner, CLIL content and a project lesson. Each level has a Student Book, a Reader to develop students’ reading skills and an Activity Book with Cambridge English Young Learner test-style practice activities.

Grammar Goals is a new six-level grammar series for children aged 7-10 years. It presents and practises grammar in lively and meaningful age-appropriate contexts that reflect pupils’ real lives and interests. Linked to the Cambridge and Trinity external exam syllabuses, Grammar Goals offers regular exam-style practice tasks in the Pupil’s Books.

The visually appealing nature of the course ensures that grammar is presented in a child-friendly format that keeps pupils actively involved in learning the language form, function and meaning. The careful staging of the units provides three levels of challenge and success – bronze, silver and gold – helping students reflect on their progress and aim for higher goals.
